Bed Shopping is Exhausting.

So our bed SUCKS. It's absolutely horrible. First of all, and not the least of its problems, is the fact that it's about 10 years old. It's got body impressions all over it, including one from where I used to sit on it when our bedroom was also our living room, and I would always sit in the same spot. It was a good thing at the time, because it made a nice comfy impression to sit in(after 2 years), and then when it was time to go to sleep, it was a perfect spot to park my hip. You see, I'm a side sleeper, at least to begin with. I can't fall asleep in any position other than on my right side, curled up in a ball with my right arm under my pillow. After I fall asleep, all bets are off and I'm all over the place, but it's critical to have comfort in the time it takes to actually get to sleep. It worked well for a while, but for the past few months it's been getting more and more uncomfortable. Another non-helpful thing is that when we moved here from Connecticut, we didn't do the smart thing(we can't be blamed, we were under a lot of stress with moving across the country and all) and mark the corner of the mattress so that we'd know how to orient it once we arrived here, and now it seems uncomfortable no matter how we flip it or turn it. Very frustrating. More recently, I've been having a lot of hip pain, which is really sucky since I have to take the bus to work, which involves a fair bit of walking. And it would be nice to wake up without a backache, headache, hip-ache, and/or 1-3 dead limbs.

Now since I don't mind walking to the bus stop, and to work(in fact it forces me to get exercise-good thing!), we've decided to make getting a new bed our number one large purchase priority, even before getting Mr.M a truck. He's fine with that since he gets to use mine any time he needs it! This brings us to last Saturday(3/18), and bed shopping. We were originally going to go with a Tempurpedic, since our friends D&L have one and when we laid on it it was wonderful; and we figured that if we're going to drop an assload of money on a new king size mattress anyway, we may as well get one that's really good, and be able to enjoy it forever. So suddenly we start seeing these IntelliBed commercials all over the place, and we figured, again, assload of dough involved, let's make sure we explore all available options. We already know we don't want a conventional mattress, pillow-top or no; and we can't stand those "sleep number" things... My folks have one and they love it, but we don't find them comfy. That narrowed it down to 2, Tempurpedic and IntelliBed. We pretty much knew what to expect of Tempurpedic, so we decided to check out an IntelliBed store, and OMG laying on one totally changed our minds! They're incredible. Another thing that changed our minds was learning that the Tempurpedic beds are temperature sensitive. It was barely cool in the IntelliBed store, and we tried laying on their sample Tempurpedic(brand name and all) and it was kinda stiff, my hip started to hurt right away. Apparently when they're even a little cold, they have to warm up to your body heat for a bit before they completely mold to your body. This, for us, is a really bad thing, since we like to have the window in our bedroom open a little, even in winter. We like it chilly in there so we can snuggle up under the blankets, and not wake up all hot and sweaty. Suffice it to say that we decided to go with the IntelliBed. Unfortunately, they cost at least twice as much as the Tempurpedic! So we applied to get credit for payments, and, well, that didn't work. I won't go into details, but it definitely didn't work. So now we have to come up with the cash to buy it outright, which is no small feat, since the bed we want is in the neighborhood of $3500!! This, however, brings me to more fantastic news...

MR.M IS GOING TO BE A DRIVER SOON!!!!!!!! HURRAH!!!!!!!! He's going to start training as one of NPT's CDL drivers next week!! This means a MUCH happier Mr.M, and a much happier me because he won't be miserable on the dock anymore!! Not to mention the hefty raise, along with his automatic cost-of-living raise in April. We're going to be able to save up for that bed at warp speed! We're both extremely excited, and can't wait to be able to wake up refreshed and not tired/in pain for a change, and to have this awesome bed that we'll be able to keep forever! 20 years at least, or so we're told by Val, our super-nice and non-pressurey saleslady. I can't wait for Mr.M to begin his driving career, and for us to get our new bed!!

HAPPY(I'm out of creative post titles)

I, my internet-schmoozing friends, am in a fantastic mood. Why, do you ask? Well, I'll tell you. First, it's my mom's birthday this coming week. I had ordered 2 beautiful handcarved candles from this great website called Ablaze Candles(highly recommended, huge selection and absolutely gorgeous!), and they were supposed to be shipped out Monday. Well, I didn't take into account the handcarving time, and shipping and such, and so when the shipped out on Wednesday, I panicked. You see, My folks are leaving Saturday morning for a week to go to Hawaii(and I am grrrrreen w/envy), and the shipment wasn't due to arrive(according to UPS) until next Monday. So I'm all upset, thinking she's going to get her gift late(which doesn't really matter because she loves me anyway :) ), and that it's going to be left sitting on the porch in the snow for the better part of a week. Then, lo and behold, it arrived today!! Hurrah!! And, of course, she loved them. I knew it. Hehehe...

Secondly, and I'm sure I should have posted about this 3 weeks ago(but she's doing such an incredibly thorough job herself on her blog), but welcome to the world, Kira Rose!! She is the absolutely beautiful 3-week old daughter of my sister(I swear we were sisters in another life, anyway) e. If you want to see all kinds of adorable pictures and read her auto-biography-in-progress, go here. She has an incredible way of putting things that has me cracking up all the time. She's awesome. Also awesome, is my other sister(not in another life, I think we were hatched together on Jupiter), A, is going to have a baby!! This woman, I swear, thought she would never spawn... Neither did I... And here we are. I'm getting a little scared, to be honest. I'm afraid to even sneeze too hard around Mr.M for fear of impregnation. Well I can't wait to meet Kira, which won't happen until we can afford to vacation in Australia :( , and I hope to convince A&B to move out here so I can properly play my role as Auntie B. We may not want spawn of our own, but that doesn't mean we can't spoil the crap out of our friend's little monsters.

Oh!! I almost forgot to tell everyone!! Mr.M got a haircut!! He looks very handsome!! It's not a buzzcut like before when we first met, it's just short enough that it won't fall in his face without a baseball hat... He's really quite fetching now. Not that he wasn't always fetching, of course! My sexy, sexy man... But I digress. It's a good haircut. ;)

We might be going to the Downtown Aquarium in Denver tomorrow, if Mr.M is feeling up to it after some horribly grueling days at work, chucking and stacking tires(little ones, big ones, and huge ones taller than he is). I'm so excited, and I really hope we go. If we do, I promise to bring the camera!!

EDIT: I typed up this post at work on Friday, and then it was saying something about not being able to connect with the server or something, so I saved it, with every intention of posting it later when I got home from work. Well, Mr.M was on the computer playing Star Wars when I got home, and by the time he was off the PC I completely forgot. Then yesterday, we were really busy, going out for lunch at Hacienda Colorado and then to the AQUARIUM!!!, and so here we are on Sunday, with me editing and you, my 3 or 4 loyal readers, shaking your heads at my unreliability. And speaking of unreliability, guess who forgot to bring her camera on her little aquatic field trip? C'mon, guess!! Well, the aquarium was really fun, not nearly as big as the one in Mystic, CT, but still really fun. We plan on going back again, and then I'll bring the camera. Still love me? ;)
