Back to Blogging / Getting Hitched

All right boys and girls, if anyone cares to read any of this garbage, here we go....

So, as the title implies, after a long hiatus from blogging, it's time to start up again. I have lots to ramble about. Hope I don't bore you all to tears.

As the title also implies, I'm getting married, in June, at the Colorado Renaissance Festival. Neither Mr.M nor I have ever been huge on the marriage thing, it's always just been something that we knew we'd do sooner or later for purposes of mooching off each others' health insurance(whoever's is better, heh). We already act married, and expect nothing to change except I get a pretty new ring, and he gets to wear one for the first time. We've cycled through a few different ideas; from getting it done and over with at the town hall with just my parents in attendance, to going to Vegas and getting married by a Klingon, to trying to find a drive-through chapel that will fit Mr.M's 18-wheeler through it! Well, we were leaning toward the quick civil ceremony when *poof* my friend The Chef(not his real name, heh) and I went to the Colorado Renaissance Festival at the end of July. It was my first time there(of course, since we just moved here in Sept.'06), and it was phenomenal. Like a theme park, it's set up all year round, but only opens for a couple of months in June and July each year. I walked around so much that day that, at one point, I got charlie horses in both calves at the same time! I had to hang out on a picnic bench for a while, after I was rescued with a calf massage(thanks Gypsy[not her real name]!) and a frozen, chocolate covered banana(thanks to The Chef!), and LOTS of water. But that was ok too, because there was just so much going on around me; from the king's procession with horses and buggies and such, to the jousting competitions, to just watching all the pretty ladies wandering by in their corsets! Who would ever know me to argue with that? Heh. Anyhow. The only thing that sucked was that Mr.M was on the road at the time and couldn't come with us.

So The Chef mentioned to me that they do weddings at the faire, and I thought, hey, that'd be neat, so after a while I liked the idea more and more and decided to do some research. Turns out it looked like the perfect venue, and Mr.M loved the thought as well! Relatively all-inclusive, I would only have to worry about finding a dress, something for Mr.M to wear, and buying a cake. Oh, and finding a person who could actually marry us(thanks to my pal The Party Animal[not his real name], he's an official internet-ordained preacher of something-or-other, and can legally perform marriages)! Instead of blathering on about all the nifty features of getting hitched there, you can go see for yourself HERE. Doesn't that look awesome?! We've already put down the $1000 deposit and reserved our date; Sunday, June 10th.

I've been furiously toiling away in Photoshop, making our invitations and envelopes and such for the past couple of months. They look great(if I do say so myself), and I'll be mailing them out by the end of January. If you, dear reader, do not get one, don't fret! It's not that we don't love you, we are just very limited by the amount of folks we can invite. One good thing about the RenFaire, though, is that if you happen to be in our neck of the woods, you can just show up! After the wedding itself, the food bit, and sitting with the 'king' for a jousting competition, we'll all be wandering about the faire for the rest of the day. Then we plan to go out for dinner after we leave, so we can all relax and hang out and get waited on. ^_^ We will have at least a full week off from work to hang out with everyone who can make it!

Ok, so I guess that's probably plenty for now. My main remaining stress about this whole wedding thing is a dress for me. Get ready, gentle reader, to hear a lot about that in blogs to come, if you decide to keep coming back for more ramblings!
